Our Story
The Port of Limbe was established to serve Cameroon’s Southwest region as a strategic maritime gateway. Its location near oil installations, fishing zones, and industrial corridors positions it as a vital hub for trade, energy, and regional development. From the beginning, PAL was tasked with supporting Cameroon’s economic diversification and offering an alternative to Douala and Kribi ports.
The Port Authority of Limbe is managed by a transitional administration established in 2020 to oversee its operationalization and modernization. At the helm is the Director Delegate, supported by a Deputy Director Delegate and a team of departmental heads. These include the Head of Operations, the Head of the Technical Department, and the Head of Administration. Together, this leadership team ensures the smooth running of port activities, technical services, and administrative management. Their collective role is to translate PAL’s mission into daily practice. coordinating logistics, maintaining infrastructure, and managing resources. while preparing the port for long‑term stability and growth.
This transitional administration reflects PAL’s commitment to professionalism, efficiency, and transparency, guiding the port through its reorganization phase and laying the foundation for its future as a modern maritime hub for Cameroon and the Central African region.

Tiko
Tiko is an important port located in the Southwest of Cameroon, along the Bimbia river in the Gulf of Guinea, east of the island of Tiko connected to the mainland by a causeway
Bota
Bota Port is a historic deep‑sea wharf in Limbe, long associated with the export of cocoa, coffee, and palm oil, and today it remains a strategic gateway with strong potential for industrial expansion and international trade.
Cape Limboh
Cape Limboh is a petroleum terminal reserved for SONARA, equipped with modern deep‑water berths that handle crude oil reception and refined product shipment, making it a critical hub in Cameroon’s energy supply chain.
Idenau
Idenau Port, located northwest of Limbe, is a vibrant fishing and trade center with a multicultural community, serving both as a hub for seafood commerce and as the administrative headquarters of the West Coast Subdivision.

Importance of the Port Authority to the South-West Region
The reorganization of the Port Authority of Limbe, created in 1999 by the Head of State, has raised new hopes and expectations among the people of the South-West Region. The full operation of PAL is set to deliver significant economic and social benefits not only to the region, but also to the nation and the wider West and Central Africa sub‑regions.
Experts project that the development and full operation of the Port will generate approximately 7,000 direct jobs for young people, alongside more than 5,000 parallel opportunities. This commitment reflects the government’s understanding that meaningful employment is essential for youth empowerment and national stability.
At PAL, we recognize that every job opportunity is a safeguard against idleness and a step toward building a stronger, more resilient community. By investing in youth employment and regional development, the Port Authority of Limbe stands as a pillar of progress and inclusion for the South‑West Region.
The Importance of the Port in the Region
The Port Authority of Limbe has already made a tangible impact on the South‑West Region. To date, it has generated close to 1,000 jobs for the local population, including approximately 500 opportunities for young people. Beyond employment, the Port has become a driver of economic activity, facilitating import and export operations, generating revenue, and attracting rapid development.
PAL now serves as a lever for industrial growth, supporting the expansion of enterprises such as CDC and PAMOL by enabling the export of raw materials and manufactured products. Its presence strengthens the region’s economic foundation and positions Limbe as a hub for trade and progress.
The Port Authority of Limbe (PAL) is pleased to inform the general public, business operators, and travelers that a new vessel has been introduced on the Tiko Calabar (Nigeria) route. This new vessel will enhance maritime connectivity, facilitate trade, and provide a safer and more convenient means of travel between the two ports.
